Speedboat was a UI and UX sprint that aimed at developing an end to end platform for sales representatives to see actionable insights and compare their performance with other colleagues.

Platform Goal

Providing a bottoms up experience for sales representatives to monitor performance

Allow the platform to be a springboard for the entire SetSail experience ( end to end experience ).

Address the catch 22 situation of privacy vs trust for users and allow them to see results as soon as possible.

Design Strategy

The Funnel Stratergy - Discovery Phase
To decide on a constructive path to go ahead we used the funnel stratergy where we took the key insights gathered from each stage of the design process and further used it as a starting point for the next step in the phase. This helped in following a methodical process and in coming up with the most constructive opportunitie and suggestions to be used when detailing out the final product concept.

Platform Workflow

All the key touchpoints are somehow connected to each other and they are directly/ indirectly affecting each other in one way or another.

Impact Loops

This process tells us about which touchpoints are majorly affected by the other touchpoints. The takeaway is to set the priority on which touchpoint needs to be solved first to get past the bottlenecks that is present between the touchpoints.

From the impact loops we gather insights about which touchpoints are affecting each other.

How might we....

design a platform for sales representatives to view and track their individual performance while also being able to create and join contests to have healthy competitions ?

As a team we decided that the best way to move forward was to tackle each and every design goal individually. However, before that the designresearch wsa directed in the following manner

Quicker and easier onboarding for new users :

5 step onboarding process with short and clear answers that does not involve too much time or effort from the users side. This onboarding reduces the frustration of having to wait to see results.

Intuitive learning dashboard :

This dashboard is a new feature that setsail does not pertain. Contests that users are participating in and are owners for are well differentiated using visual cues using a clean UI. All contests are highly discoverable at any state and users can efficiently navigate thereby taking care of a cyclic design.

Create and join contests :

The main focus of this process was to allow users to create contests as easily and quickly as possible. Involving only 3 steps with a few answers chosen by default this action is highly consistent and increases visibility. The leaderboard clearly tells the user their current position and points thereby giving a personalised feeling. It also helps them compare and see how they perform as compared to their fellow teammates.
